Meeting the needs of Industry

The needs of business and industry are integral to much of our research and collaboration.  Specialist units engage with research and teaching, some with a very practical orientation such as the Specialist Transport Advisory and Testing Utility Society (STATUS) which offers services to the British car trade, the Rail Technology Unit (RTU) and CATE, the Centre for Air Transport and the Environment which has an international reputation for its work with atmospheric pollution and sustainable aviation. 

Our Analytical Centre undertakes work for private companies, offering facilities and expertise to investigate a wide range of chemical, environmental and biological samples.  Our academic and technical staff engaged with these units, channel their skills into their teaching ensuring taught degrees are relevant and meet the needs of industry.
