Wireless networks are increasingly being used in the automation industry with applications as diverse as controlling AGVs, storage shuttles and production cranes. As bandwidth demands increase with PLC upgrades PROFINET wireless is also being used to overcome PROFIBUS limitations such as slip-rings.
This one day course shows how a PROFINET or PROFISAFE network can be securely and reliably deployed over an Industrial Wireless LAN network. This hands-on course covers configuration of Industrial Wireless LAN equipment and explains how to avoid the common pitfalls to successfully deploy an industrial wireless network. This course shows how a PROFINET or PROFISAFE network can be deployed over an Industrial Wireless LAN network. You will learn how to configure Industrial Wireless LAN equipment to communicate with PROFINET devices, how wireless networks transmit information, what Industrial extensions are needed for a Wireless LAN to support PROFINET and PROISAFE communication. You will learn how to use wireless network surveying tools to successfully deploy an Industrial Wireless LAN, how to verify and monitor wireless network performance.
Students on the course work in pairs, each with a laptop PC running PROFINET applications and freely available analysing software, Wireshark and iPERF. In addition each pair has a dedicated rack of PROFINET devices and an Industrial Wireless LAN Access Point/Client.
Students are requested to bring a laptop with WiFi and Ethernet interfaces, this is preferred but not essential.• Technology Overview: WiFi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, Wireless USB, Wireless HART, Zigbee
