Chemical Vapour Deposition of thin diamond films and diamond-like carbon
Pre-treatment of the substrate surface and the use of bias-enhanced nucleation and additional nitrogen have been shown to change dramatically the properties of the diamond films giving improved adhesion and control of the grain size. Current work is focussing on the following functional applications for thin diamond films: Control of surface morphology and grain size for optical applications Development of diamond based electrodes for electrochemical applications Biomedical diamond coatings.
